About us and our data
StockPrecog screens more than 6,000 stocks and 159 ETFs every night and turns what the models find into plain-language briefings. We are not a broker, not an advisor and not a fund. We publish measurements, and what you do with them is your decision.
1. Who we are
StockPrecog is operated from the Netherlands. For anything about the service, billing or your account, write to [email protected]. We answer in Dutch or English.
2. Where the numbers come from
Every figure on the site traces back to one of these sources. We do not buy sentiment feeds, we do not use paid promotion, and no third party pays to appear in our lists.
- Prices, volumes and company fundamentals come from market data providers and from the companies' own filings. For US companies we read the SEC's XBRL filings directly (EDGAR).
- Analyst earnings estimates and revisions come from the consensus figures published by our market data providers.
- Macro indicators come from public sources: the Federal Reserve's FRED database, the IMF's growth projections and the OECD's composite leading indicators.
- Our own scores are calculated by us from the above. They are our work, not data we bought.
3. Which standards we use
Part of what we show is not ours at all: it is established academic work that any analyst would recognise. We name it as such, because knowing which yardstick is being used is half of reading a number.
- Altman Z-score (Edward Altman, 1968) for the risk of financial distress.
- Piotroski F-score (Joseph Piotroski, 2000) for the accounting health of a company, on a scale of 0 to 9.
- Beneish M-score (Messod Beneish, 1999) for the likelihood that reported figures have been dressed up.
- 12-1 month momentum (Jegadeesh and Titman, 1993).
- Standard technical and risk measures: RSI, MACD, Sortino, Calmar and maximum drawdown.
4. How often it is refreshed
- Prices and fundamentals: every night, for the whole universe.
- Macro snapshot and scenario probabilities: daily.
- Scenario projections per stock: recalculated weekly, on Sunday night.
The macro page, the future chart and the More page show when their figures were last calculated.
5. What the model does not do
It does not predict prices. It measures where a stock stands against our model's estimate of fair value, which way analysts are moving their estimates, and how the stock behaves relative to the rest of the market. Those are measurements, not forecasts of what will happen.
